Good Day

Ordering Reminders! We are still offering HOME DELIVERY to Individual customers on Wednesdays! CLICK HERE, until Monday at 4:30 pm for Wednesday options. Deliveries occur normally between 12 and 2pm, but let us know if that doesn’t work for you and we’ll try to accommodate.

In the Garden
The ground is starting to unthaw as the snow melts! Spring run-off is a great time to assess the flow/drainage of water around your growing areas. While we’re not likely to see similar levels of water all at once again, you can definitely watch where it’s gathering or doing the most damage and plan to divert or restructure those areas. A little planning will mitigate damage to future crops in that spot. There’s nothing worse (remember last year) than planting a big section of your garden only to see it wiped out in a rain event. As soon as you can get the soil loosened up and warmed a bit, you can think about planting cold tolerant crops. Its a bit of a risk this early, but if you’re only doing small areas it won’t take long and there’s a big reward to have the first peas/carrots/beets/lettuce in the neighbourhood. Check our our seed starting pamphlet for more info – it’s free to download and there’s some great seeds available online too.

In the Superior Seasons Weekly
If you read below you’ll see the collection of social media stories that paper.li curates for us. One of them is a story Michael Pollan re-tweeted about glyphosate (round-up) health dangers. What didn’t show up is that Pollan later tweeted that the story was dubious due to a lack of proper research – and this despite it being originally published by Reuters! Ahh, the perils of instant communication. Another good reminder to be as thorough as possible in forming our opinions. Of course you can just blindly trust everything we write…

Good Growing
