Root Cellar Gardens is a small, market-garden business dedicated to growing high-quiality produce. Established in 2014, it is located in South Gillies. Root Cellar Gardens is owned and operated by Evalisa McIllfaterick. Produce is grown using organic and ecologically-minded practices. Soils are built by the use of green manures, smother crops, minimal tilling, organic amendments, and crop rotation. Veggies are supported by healthy soils, gravity-fed irrigation, companion planting, and plenty of hand-weeding!
Root Cellar Gardens operates off the grid. At Root Cellar Gardens the aim is to support and maintain the health of both the social and ecological communities of which we are all a part. Sustainability is a driving force behind Root Cellar Gardens.
